Mission in Ethiopia.
Dr. Richard Gardner, CURE Ethiopia Children’s Hospital –Addis Ababa
“At CURE Ethiopia Children’s Hospital we treat many children with osteogenesis imperfecta from all over Ethiopia as well as Sudan and Somalia. Deformities are often severe with many children first presenting with long bones bent over 90 degrees. Traditional treatment with rush rods (non-telescopic metal rods) requires multiple revision surgeries throughout childhood and unfortunately many only return after an inevitable fracture occurs at the end of the rod. PEGA Medical’s generous donation of FD rods is making a huge difference in these children’s lives. The need for further surgery, pain and disability has dramatically reduced. This improves each child’s quality of life, access to education and dignity.”
